Where We Are Going
Going Green
3H Group Hotels has established a policy of implementing "green-friendly" methods of operating our hotels. This includes how we develop and build our hotels to the ways we manage them on a day-to-day basis. 3H has executed many "green" initiatives at both the property and corporate level as part of the tremendous effort to go green and reduce carbon emissions. The SpringHill Suites obtained a LEED Silver Certification in October 2012. LEED- an acronym for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design"- is a rating system which sets buildings constructed in an environmentally conscious way apart in 5 key categories: the use of a sustainable site, water efficiency, materials and resources, energy usage, and indoor air quality. Our other hotels recycle soap, reuse linen, recycle plastics, and use environmentally friendly laundry detergent. In addition, a majority of our Chattanooga hotels are part of the Chattanooga Green Lodging Certification Program.
In September 2011, our Residence Inn by Marriott and Conference Center and Staybridge Suites Downtown Chattanooga added two Level 2 Blink EV Charging Stations, which are complimentary for use to our hotel guests. The stations are part of the EV Project's implemented by ECOtality, a leader in electric transportation. The EV Projects is a public/private partnership funded in part by the Department of Energy, and is aimed at reducing the use of fossil fuels. The EV Stations at Residence Inn and Staybridge are only four of 14,000 Level 2 Stations across 18 cities in the U.S. The Charging Stations recharge vehicles in approximately 4-6 hours and are a great, cost effective way to reduce carbon emissions.
Our Florida properties are also "Green-Certified" by the state, and have earned their palm. The Florida
Green Lodging Program is a voluntary initiative of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) that designates and recognizes lodging facilities that make a commitment to conserve and protect Florida's natural resources. The program's environmental guidelines allow the hospitality industry to evaluate its operations, set goals and take specific actions to continuously improve environmental performance.
